Hi all... found this forum by looking at the member's list at the Anxiety Community.

Here's my brief history:
- Depression/anxiety/agoraphobia emerged in 2000 as I started menopause. Put on Paxil which was great but in six months I became manic. P-doc added Neurontin to control mania. After 2 years I had gained 25 pounds, so I tried to get off the Paxil with horrible withdrawal. Then weaned off gradually and switched to Lexapro.

Initially that was great, but within a year I had gained 30 pounds. New P-doc switched me to Wellbutrin but I started having breakthrough anxiety (with IBS...great stuff) so he gave me Xanax to control that. (I'm a very "cheap date" with meds. I take 1/2 of a .5 Xanax and it works).

Recently the anxiety has become out of control, and as a result the depression and agoraphobia have re-emerged.

I've always had food/eating issues, and at one point my p-doc asked what my BMI was. I told him, and he said "How much did you pay for a scale that lies to you?" (I am 5'7" and 138 pounds). Time to find a new doc, again.

New doc, love her, suggested Cymbalta (30mg) because she said none of her patients gain weight on it. I started it this past Tuesday, with the Wellbutrin, but it made me SO SICK I had to stop. I haven't taken it for 2 days and I still feel weird.

We're going to try the Lexapro again (after I get this stuff out of my system), very small dosage, with the Wellbutrin to hopefully ward off the weight gain (and with attention paid to carb intake).

One reason I came here was because a member at the other forum posted a very insensitive response to my concern about weight gain, which I think is pretty ridiculous in what is supposed to be a support group. I know I have issues with food and body image... I'm hoping this is a more supportive environment.

Thanks for putting the time in to create a space for us.
