Using marijuana as a form of self treatment is not really good in the long run.Measure yourself and see if you are low in posterior pituitary, most bipolars are. My book A Magic Bullet Cure For Depression and Manic Depression describes the system. This will control both the anxiety and depression. I have taaaaken it for over 40 years. R.F.

I'm not sure many people use marijuana to self-medicate for bipolar. I think that many people drink alcohol instead, which I strongly do not recommend.

Many bipolars go undiagnosed. 88% of women and 39% of men have some degree of posterior pituitary gland deficiency. Page discoved this after measuring 4000 patients, a general populatrion. This deficiency is a marker for bipolar especially if it is extreme. Lesser deficiency can cause hypomania. Many addicts would be helped if a correct diagnosis was made at the outset. Alcohol suppresses the posterior pituitary gland and makes things worse. This association is in endocrinology texts. This is why you get frequency of urination when you drink alcohol because it suppresses the antidiuretic hormone that comes from the posterior pituitary gland. R.F.

One simple way to get some clues is to buy a midget urinometer on the net, cost about $15. On a diet talkng no diuretics or caffeine check you urine specific gravity before you go to bed at night and the first thing in the A.M for about three days. The ideal range is 1.018-1.022. If you are below 1.018 you are posterior pituitary deficient and could easily have depression and be bipolar. R.F.

The marijuana I use in my self treatment is carefully monitored with carefully metered dosages. I bought a scale, it literally takes a very small amount, once or twice a day, and I'm good for the entire next day.
![]() I use to use alcohol as self treatment, which was a terrible idea. Not only did it make things worse, I gained a huge amount of weight. I rarely drink alcohol now, except around holidays and maybe if I go out. Raymond Forbes, you seem to know a lot about the brain, are you a psychologist/psychiatrist? |

I am a dentist and I learned about posterior pituitary from a dentist,Melvin Page in 1971. I have taken it for over 40 years. Using is like a band aid for bipolar. You are masking other problems that can occur with with post pit deficiency, acne, high pressure, bone loss, osteoporosis, periodontal disease, high tooth decay rates, depression, manic depression, spontaneous abortion, fertility problems, hypersexuality. It is one of the worlds best kept secrets that posterior pituitary corrects bipolar. R. Forbes
